West Waters Bistro

I headed to West Waters Bistro with a group of friends on Sunday night for dinner and catch up. A few friends had been here prior and had raved about the food, particularly the steaks and the seafood pasta.

So logically, these were the dishes that I chose for my meal that evening. I shared with AL, because I'm not able to consume two main courses, although sometimes I wish I could ;) I also sometimes wish I could teleport and also punch annoying people without getting into trouble, but that's neither here nor there and deserves a whole other post.

After such high expectations I was (unfortunately) left at an anticlimax. The pasta was overloaded with garlic and the mussels had that slimy not-cooked-all-the-way-through consistency, gross. The steak was flavourless and unexciting. I tried dipping it in the peppercorn sauce, but to no avail. I was chewing on cardboard.

Another thing... the prices are a bit exorbitant for bistro style dining. $36 for a T-bone steak. Actually, let me take that back... the prices are exorbitant for the quality of food I received. I've paid $40-$50 for a steak at the Station Hotel, which is pub style dining and it was feckin worth it.

The only tiny beacon of light, and note the word tiny; is that the staff were friendly, albeit a tad slow - as in service, not mentally.

It's dining experiences like these, that make me wish I had stayed at home and had vegemite on toast. I would've been a happy little vegemite with rosy cheeks.

PS- My friend messaged me later on and told me she threw up from garlic overload... YUP, vom.
